A Wanderer indeed, Andrew Marks has been a busy lad making wine in Spain as well as the Yarra Valley. He started out at the ripe old age of nine, helping his old man out in the winery - every young boy's dream, surely! He graduated from Roseworthy in 1997, worked with Penfolds and Seppelt for six years and has notched up seven overseas vintages including Spain (where he currently makes the El Wanderer), in Bordeaux, the Languedoc, Sonoma and Burgundy. When he comes home to do his washing and re-pack he helps Timo Mayer out with his folks' booze at Gembrook Hill.
Q&A
Is there a wine or a person that inspires you as a winemaker?

I'm just happy to be a finalist. I'm looking forward to the tasting. It will be a strong field. When all the talk is over the wines will speak for themselves!
