To the nose, aromas of cinnamon and nutmeg exude. Finely powdered white and black peppers, brambles and milk chocolate. To the palate, the savoury flavour of poppy seed, a herbal note of sweet sage and a lushness of cherry. The mouth feel is caressingly silky, the structure balanced and focussed. The interplay of subtle oak spice and fruit tannin yield length and vibrancy.
This wine exhibits seductive aromas of musk and the sweetness of Brioche. On the palate, it is a much leaner picture with spice and tart apricots. Textured, aromatic and a long drying finish.
Ngeringa is a certified biodynamic vineyard situated below the Mount Barker summit in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia.
Select clones of Shiraz and Viognier are planted facing west on a textured soil of micaceous schist and sandstone over clay, with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir planted on a cooler east facing slope.
Ngeringa presents two tiers under the Ngeringa label. J.E wines are made in the reserved, savoury style characteristic of Ngeringa and exude a bright, liveliness of fruit which belies the young vines from which they came. NGERINGA is reserved only for the ultimate of Ngeringa wines and represents the depth and expression of the best fruit from Ngeringa's vineyards. Ngeringa also produces an Extra Virgin Olive Oil 500ml produced from estate grown olives.
Ngeringa's wines were first released in autumn 2007 and are available direct from cellar door, independent cellars and select restaurants around Australia.
