Sourced from Hoddles Creek's vineyards in the Upper Yarra, this wine has a distinctive European feel. Picked early and treated gently, fermented cool with a long ferment in old oak. The Pinot Blanc exhibits white flowers, pear and flint. Deliberately not fined and not filtered to retain some phenolic roughness to build texture across a clean light finish.
A bright, green-tinged wine that exhibits lovely nectarine, citrus and controlled complexity on the nose. The wine flows through the palate with fine acidity, showing nice minerality and only a hint of oak.
Since Hoddles Creeks' first vintage, in 2000, the focus has been on handcrafted, single vineyard wines. Gradually, the vineyard has expanded to capture differing aspects, altitudes and soil profiles to build complexity into the wine.
Winemaking practices at Hoddles Creek tend to be minimal. All wines are transferred using gravity with no need for added acid. The wines are allowed to evolve in barrel without manipulation to emphasize their origin.
